Bach Akademie Australia welcomes its first international artist, acclaimed GRAMMY-nominated American countertenor Reginald Mobley, renowned for his advocacy for diversity in music and programming. Mobley performs cantatas of solace and profundity, including Bach’s great solo vocal cantata Ich habe genug (I have enough) alongside his second orchestral suite.
According to theological tradition in Lutheran Germany, the alto voice was the very symbol of the Holy Ghost. Bach felt this deeply, thus reserving the alto voice for the most moving and special of arias in his passions and cantatas. Mobley is equally at home with gospel and jazz alongside music of the baroque period. His purity of tone, clarity of articulation and deep personal connection to this music ensures an evening of sublime music making.
Bach Akademie Australia is dedicated to performing the works of J.S. Bach. It was established in late 2016 by Australian violinist Madeleine Easton who has recently returned after 19 years of living and working in Europe. Its aim is to enrich and enhance the musical life of Australia. The ensemble's focus on mastery of performance, authenticity and originality of interpretation brings the music of J.S. Bach to life.
