Switched On: Cedric Burnside
City Recital Hall
- Contemporary Music
A booking fee of $8.50 per transaction applies
The wellspring of Cedric Burnside’s musical legacy runs deep in the Mississippi Hill Country where he was apprenticed (at age 13) to the drumkit of his grandfather R.L. Burnside’s band. Embodying the music honed by blues masters in Mississippi’s juke joints and house parties, R.L. inspired a new generation, from the Black Keys to the North Mississippi All-Stars; an inheritance that multiple Grammy nominee Cedric proudly carries forward. The devastations his home state has endured add new weight to his observation that “these days, everybody has the blues”.
8:00pm: Howlin' Alvarez & Drey Rollan
