Amanda Palmer

Singer/Songwriter Amanda Palmer, who spent over two years waylaid in Aotearoa (New Zealand) with her young son during the pandemic, returns to the Antipodes for a very special and intimate run of shows in Australia and NZ.

Palmer has lovingly collected the material she wrote and recorded during her accidental Kiwi pandemic period into an EP titled New Zealand Survival Songs, which was funded by the 10,000 patrons who support her unusual, fully-crowdfunded career as a touring songwriter and recording artist.

She plans to have a good old catch-up, tell the stories behind the songs, yarn about her time in lockdown, and play a selection of old Dresden Dolls and solo favourites. She'll also be sharing a selection of brand-new unreleased works from The Dresden Dolls forthcoming album - their first in fifteen years - arranged for solo piano, in anticipation of the Dolls' return to the southern hemisphere.

Amanda Palmer will be joined by special guest Brendan Maclean.

Crowned Australia’s Prince of Indie Pop by Time Out, Brendan first made a mark in 2013 when his break-up anthem Stupid broke through to an international audience, launched from his bedroom in the Inner West of Sydney.

More recently Maclean has made a move from the studio to the stage, starring in his first French production, L’hotel at The Sydney Opera House and being cast in the titular roles of the Australian premiere of Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical, The Herald branding his first foray into musical theatre, “a revelation.”

He is thrilled to be a guest of his long time collaborator Amanda Palmer, their friendship spawning two releases: the dance-floor filler On The Door (Minus Four) and their inspired cover of Bat for Lashes, "Laura."
