Tales from the Homeland
A landmark musical event awaits as the multi award-winning Russian Orthodox Male Choir of Australia and the renowned Sydney Concert Orchestra unite for the first time in a breathtaking tribute to musical heritage. This historic collaboration will bring to life the sweeping grandeur of orchestral mastery and the profound depth of choral tradition, creating a performance of rare and captivating beauty.
At the helm of the Sydney Concert Orchestra is the distinguished Omid Moheb-Zadeh, whose visionary leadership and electrifying precision have cemented his reputation as one of Australia’s most dynamic conductors. Under his baton, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 in F Minor, a powerful and deeply personal work exploring fate, struggle, and triumph, will unfold in all its dramatic intensity. Guiding the commanding voices of the Russian Orthodox Male Choir of Australia is their esteemed artistic director, Nektary Kotlaroff, praised for his ability to shape rich, sonorous choral textures that echo through the ages. Together, they will unveil the highly anticipated premiere of Russian folk songs, a collection of beloved melodies reimagined in stunning orchestral and choral arrangements.
The audience will be captivated by timeless favourites such as Kalinka, Moscow Nights (Podmoskovnie Vechera), The Horse (Kon) by Lyube, Malinoviy Zvon and others. These works will be brought to life by an outstanding cast of soloists, including tenors Alex Jeloudev and Anthony Kotlaroff, baritone Lawrence Boikov, and legendary world-renowned oktavist Alex Dmitrieff, whose subterranean bass notes are sure to resonate through the hall. Adding a unique and touching dimension to the evening, guest boy soprano soloist John Kulikov will also make a special appearance for the piece 'Kolokolchik'.
This is more than a concert - it is a celebration of cultural heritage, where symphonic grandeur and vocal majesty converge in an unforgettable evening of music.
